Sketch Itinerary:

15 January 2010:

Departure Arlanda Airport Stockholm.

16 January 2010:

We will be met on arrival at the O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and transferred to the Cottages (now called High View Gardens) in JHB. Settle in on arrival and enjoy a light lunch. After lunch an excursion to the Apartheid Museum will be arranged.

Return to High View Gardens in the late afternoon where you overnight on a LUNCH, BED & BREAKFAST BASIS (Dinner will be for your own account)

17 January 2010:

We enjoy an early breakfast, after which we will be transferred to Soweto to partake in a Sunday morning church service where we will have a chance to sing as well. Lunch will be served after the service, offering the group an opportunity to get to know the local choir and community members.

After lunch, we depart for the Wildside Camp and the pristine beauty of the Entabeni Private Game Reserve approximately 3-hours from Johannesburg; situated in the World Heritage “Waterberg Biosphere” of the Waterberg region of South Africa’s Limpopo Province. This 12 000ha malaria-free reserve boasts five eco systems. The upper escarpment offers majestic craggy rock formations and wide open grass plains. This is separated from the lower
plateau by 600 meter high cliffs. The lower escarpment is about three degrees warmer and comprises sandy wetlands.

Our accommodation will be arranged at the WILDSIDE CAMP; a true African bush experience awaits you at Wildside Tented Camp, where the essence of the unspoilt wilderness of the Waterberg is combined with comfortable en-suite tents, creating a wild Africa atmosphere. The open lounge/bar area with the romantic roaring fire in the boma creates the perfect end to a relaxed day in the bush. The 20 Unique en-suite tented chalets include the following in room facilities: Telephone, Ceiling Fans, Hair-Drier, Tea/Coffee Station, Guest Amenities and fridges in the family tented chalets.

We enjoy FOUR full days (4 NIGHTS) at the Wildside Camp on a full board basis (3 meals per day), including 2 game activities per day, an authentic African welcome on arrival and Entabeni Choir performance.

On the evening of the 17th January, ISIZWE will arrive at Wildside to enjoy a welcome dinner with the group.

The start of the Song Safari workshop will begin on the morning of the 18th Jan and continue for the duration of the stay until the morning of 21 January ‘08. Each day will be emerged in song, dance and nature in an extraordinary cross-cultural exchange collaboration with the culture group, ISIZWE and facilitated by Anders Nyberg. Over this period a warm community atmosphere will develop among the delegates and the musicians which facilitates an effortless exchange of musical talents and aptitude. Learning becomes a joy-filled expression of the heart, encapsulating the essence of our Song Safaris!

Isizwe is a young and dynamic group with abundant energy, focusing on a fusion of rhythmic African music in the form of dance, marimbas, singing and drumming. With us will also be a prominent South African Choir Conductor, still to be confirmed, to lead us into the rich world of contemporary South African Choral Music.

21 January 2010:

After our last early morning game activity, we enjoy breakfast, after which we will be transferred back to the O.R Tambo Airport in Johannesburg in time for our flight to Cape Town around 16h00 in the afternoon.

Dominated by the soaring Table Mountain and surrounded by the wild Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town offers one of the most beautiful backdrops in the world. Indeed the city has myriad attractions to explore – A splendid array of eating and drinking places, exuberant nightspots, arts and craft outlets, open-air markets, museums and galleries and a scatter of fine buildings dating back to Victorian times, combined with unsurpassed natural beauty.

Accommodation will be arranged at a combination of 2 guest houses in the trendy Tamboerskloof area situated in the Cape Town City bowl. We will utilize Parker Cottage & Leeuwenvoet Guest House, which are 800meters apart. Both Guest Houses offer a charming and very personalized experience conveniently situated in walking distance from the nearby restaurants and 5 minutes drive away from Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront and surrounding sights.

During our stay in Cape Town we will meet a local Church choir, share a rehearsal and sing together in the Sunday service. Further details of our hosts will be conveyed during the course of 2009.

During the 5 day stay in Cape Town, we enjoy a variety of splendid excursions. Our recommended daily excursions include the following:
